Circles Of Support
Circles of Support
LCIL have come to the end of their contract to deliver Circle of Support. Circles of Support provided facilitators that offered a free service and worked with people with learning disabilities and their families in the Preston,Chorley and South Ribble areas. A Circle is a support network of professionals and friends, to support the person with decisions in their life.
Circles of support are a group of family, friends and supportive workers who come together to give support and friendship to a person. They help them do the things they would like to do and achieve new things in their life. This may be day to day things in a person’s life, such as going out in the evening, meeting new people or going shopping. It may also be big things, such as going on a holiday, finding a job or moving house.
A circles facilitator helps the person and their family to organise a circle of support create a vision of a positive
future, and to move toward their goals.
The members of a circle can suggest ideas and help to plan. They can also help someone to meet new people.
LCIL will be now training volunteers who wish to become Circles of Support facilitators in order to maintain some of the work that was carried out through the funded project. If you are interested in becoming a Circles of Support facilitator please contact us. The training will be free but we expect a commitment in return for it!
