Who are We and Where can you find us ?

Lancashire Centre for Independent Living is a User Led organisation, which means that is run by and for disabled people. We provide independent living advice and support to disabled and older people to live independently in Lancashire.

What underpins our work is the social model of disability with the human rights of disabled people at its core.

Social Model of Disability

The Social Model of Disability is a model defined by disabled people themselves.

It explains that people may have physical and/or sensory impairments, a learning disability, longer term health conditions and may use mental health services but this factor in itself does not disable them.
